Falling, twisting, or rolling your ankle inward or outward can cause a sprain or fracture of the ankle.
Since treatment for an ankle sprain is different from that of a fracture, the first step is for the doctor to determine the full scope of your injury. This will involve an X-ray or other imaging studies, such as a CT or MRI. Depending on the severity of the issue and if there is a sprain or a fracture, treatment will vary as follows:
Ice
Elevation
Rest
Cast
Splint
Boot
MLS Laser Therapy
Physical Therapy
Surgery
Medications
